Trillium HD40-LV

This section describes how to set up the Trillium HD40-LV with Skynode. Please refer to this page for wiring instructions and this page for specifics about the Pixhawk Payload Bus.

The default Auterion Trillium Setup uses the Silvus radio link instead of microhard. To configure the Silvus radio link look at the following documentation: Silvus Data Link

What you will need for this step

  • Skynode Enterprise (powered as described in Power Skynode)

  • Pixhawk Payload Bus (connected as described in Pixhawk Payload Bus)

  • Nano DSub to Ethernet RJ45 cable (connects the payload to the pixhawk payload bus)

  • Trillium HD40-LV payload (not included in the kit)

  • Sightline 1500 Tracking board (not included in the kit and optional in this setup)


Software components provided by Trillium

These software components are required only for setting up the payload but won't be used once the payload is connected to a Skynode. Install the Trillium “Skylink” application and the Sightline “SLA Panel” application on a Windows machine. The latter is required only if you are also using a Sightline tracking board together with your Trillium payload.

This will install the following 3 applications.

  • OrionUI → this application is used to get information from the HD40LV and to set parameters in it. You can find this in the Skylink installation artifacts at the following path: C://ProgramFiles(x86)/Trillium/Skylink/OrionUI

  • Skylink → this application exposes most of the HD40LV’s features. This won’t be needed for the initial setup but it's mainly used to validate that your payload is working properly.

  • SLA Panel → this application is used to get information from the SLA tracking board and to set parameters in it.

Trillium HD40-LV setup

To setup the HD40LV connect it your laptop via ethernet and start the OrionUI application. The goal is to change it’s default IP to be in the same IP range as Skynode and the Silvus radios and to enable the serial port to talk to the SLA tracking board.

When you start the OrionUI application you will end up on the following page. You can see if the Payload is detected because you will see some data in the right column.

1. Change Default IP to be in the Silvus Radio network

  • Go to “Network Settings” tab

  • Enable the “Static IP” option

  • Set the “IP Address” to

  • Set the “Subnet Mask” to

  • Press on “Send” at the bottom of the page

2. Check FP1 Serial Configuration on the Trillium side (only required when using Sightline)

  • Go to “Crown Serial Config” tab

  • Configure the “Front Panel 1” to be in “Sightline” mode at a “57600” baudrate

  • Press on “Send” at the bottom of the page

  • This is the setting that will match the default settings on the Sightline Tracking board

  • Now if you go to the “Version Information” tab you will see 4 components detect.

  • If the “Tracking Board” shows a version number then this means the HD40LV is communicating with the Sightline Tracking Board

Sightline Tracking board Setup

To setup the Sightline SLA Tracking board connect it your laptop via ethernet and start the “SLA Panel” application.

This section can be skipped if the previous section was success and you could read the “Tracking Board” version information.

The goal here is just to verify that the board is working and the serial port configurations are correct. When you start the “SLA Panel” application you will end up on the following page.

You can see if board is detected by clicking on “Refresh List” in the top right hand corner of the application. If a board appears in the list then you can click on the “Disconnected (click to connect)” button and you will see all the board parameters being download by looking at the console on the bottom of the screen.

1. Check Sightline Serial Configuration

  • Go to the “Configure” menu

  • Click on the “Serial Ports…” option

  • Make sure that the configurations match the HD40LV serial configurations. The settings should look like the ones in the screenshot below.

  • If you need to change any parameter you need to press on “Send” to apply them.

  • The parameters are not automatically saved onto the board. You will then need to go to the “Parameters” menu and click on “Save to board”


  1. Connect the camera to the Pixhawk Payload Bus Adapter Board using the Nano DSub to Ethernet RJ45 cable.

  2. Follow the instructions in General Setup. This section is the same for all payloads.
