# Precise distance LRF

The app incorporates measurements from an additional distance sensor into the AMC user interface and metadata of photos capturedPrecise Distance LRF enables users to add an extra laser rangefinder (LRF) on top of their camera to precisely measure the distance from the subject. The measurement is added to the EXIF metadata of each picture. Pilots can also visualize real-time the measurement in Auterion Mission Control.

### How the app works <a href="#how-the-app-works" id="how-the-app-works"></a>

Once the App is installed and the distance sensor is connected, it will read the sensor's data and transmit it to the system.

### How to install the App <a href="#how-to-install-the-app" id="how-to-install-the-app"></a>

Visit [Auterion Suite](https://suite.auterion.com/https://suite.auterion.com/) to download and install the app. Reach out to our support team at <https://suite.auterion.com/help>.

### Connecting to the Lidar <a href="#connecting-to-the-lidar" id="connecting-to-the-lidar"></a>

The *LW20 Lidar* requires a USB to serial-adapter in order to work. Refer to the [LW20 Lidar sensor datasheet](https://www.documents.lightware.co.za/LW20%20-%20LiDAR%20Manual%20-%20Rev%2012.pdf) for wiring specifications.The Distance Sensor app will command the distance sensor to switch to serial communication.**It also requires changing FTDI product description:**

* Use Windows OS
* Download and launch FT\_PROG
* Connect FTDI device
* Change the “Product Description” to include “ AU-DIST-CAM "
* Press program in “Program Devices” sub-window
