Fly View UI Overview

An overview of the main UI elements in this view is provided below.

Vehicle Status Indicators (Top Bar)

The top bar is used to monitor high level vehicle state and modes, and to set the current vehicle, mode, and armed state.

Menu / icon
App menu (navigate to Fly, Plan, Vehicle Setup, Photos, User Login, Application Settings).
High-level status of the current vehicle (colour and status description). Also used to select the current vehicle.
Mode
Display the current flight mode. Select to enable a manual flight mode.
Armed/Disarmed State
Display/select the armed state. The states are Armed (motors spinning), Disarmed. (motors stopped), Emergency Stop (motors stopped in flight, potentially causing the drone to crash).
Indicates that the collision/avoidance system is ready to protect the vehicle (green) or not (red).
Pairing
Pairing status.
ROI Status
Position Mode POI Defined/Undefined. If defined, the icon can be selected to remove the existing position mode POI.
RC Status
Remote control RSSI status
GPS Status
GPS count, lock, HDOP, VDOP, course over ground.
RTK status and number of satellites.
  • Red icon:survey-in process is active
  • White icon: RTK active.
  • No icon: RTK system not detected.
Select the icon to display additional detail.
Battery capacity remaining (percentage). For multiple batteries, the capacity of the battery that has the lowest percentage.
Log
Select to display notification log.
  • Warning indicates important unread notifications.
  • Blue bell indicates unread (non-critical) notifications.
  • Grey bell indicates all notifications have been read.

Map

Flight Path and Orientation

The map shows the vehicle current position, home position, the direction it is facing (which may be different from where it is heading). It also shows the recent flight path (in red) and the expected path if one is defined (e.g. a goto or orbit destination, or the mission path).

Map Navigation

Pan (move) and zoom the map using the normal mechanisms for your ground station computer (mouse drag, pinch, etc.).
In addition, the map can be zoomed in/out using the on screen buttons next to the map scale marker.

Home
Home location. This is location where vehicle first gets acceptable position lock. Usually this is the arming location/takeoff point.
Orbit
Orbit map-action target (center of planned orbit).
Go here
Goto map-action target location.
POI here
Position mode POI target location.

Map Grid (MGRS)

A Map Grid (MGRS co-ordinates) may be overload over the map in Fly View and Plan View .

Fly Tools

The fly toolbar is used to execute most flight and preflight operations. The toolbar only displays valid tool options for the current vehicle state (invalid options are hidden or greyed out).
Plan
Switch to Plan View (in order to plan a mission, geofence or rally point).
Checklist
Takeoff
Arm vehicle and takeoff (option visible if landed).
Land
Land vehicle and disarm (option visible if flying).
Return
Fly to a safe point. The path/landing behaviour depends on vehicle configuration.
Pause
Pause current operation.
Action
Display additional actions for current vehicle state. May be used to start, pause, restart missions, etc.
POI
Adds a Point of Interest on the map
Goto
Adds a Go-to point on the map.
Orbit
Adds an Orbit point on the map.
COT
Enables the Cursor on Target. The vehicle position will be send to a specific IP following the ATAK Protocol (adaptable in the Settings)
Actions must be confirmed using a slider before they will be executed.
Confirmation prompts are displayed in the bottom center of the map (if an altitude can be set for an operation, a vertical slider will be displayed at the same time).

Telemetry Panel

The Telemetry Panel displays information about the vehicle (e.g. speed, position) and about the flight (e.g. distance traveled). The panel can be toggle between two views, which have slightly different information.

Object Proximity Indicators

Object Proximity Indicators show how close the vehicle is to nearby objects when flying in first-person view.

This feature is available in Position Mode when the collision prevention system is active and video is displayed full-screen.
Up to three colored bars are are used to indicate the proximity and direction of any detected objects closer than 12 meters (the top of the screen indicates the front of the vehicle). The indicators can show proximity in any direction that the vehicle has appropriate sensors.

Video Switcher

The video switcher in the bottom left of the map displays video feed from a connected camera. Select anywhere in the widget to toggle the video full screen (the map appears in the switcher).

The switcher is only visible if enabled in the Application Settings. Several other UI features are only available if the video is displayed full screen (e.g. camera controls).
The switcher can be resized, minimized or undocked. Select/hover on the switcher to see the options.
Undock
Undock switcher into own window (if supported by OS).
Resize
Resize switcher window (drag/drop).

Maximize/restore switcher window.

Camera & Gimbal Controls

The Camera and Gimbal controls are used to capture images or video, change where the camera is pointing, and zoom in/out. They also display available memory and provide access to other settings.

The camera and gimbal controls are only visible when there is a connected camera and video is displayed full screen (using the video switcher).

Notifications

Important notifications (only) are displayed in a highly visible popup. Where possible notifications include both the cause of a problem and any actions that should be taken.
Less important notifications are logged.
